This platter features the classic minimalist Tea Leaf decoration—a small gilded leaf motif centered on creamy white ironstone with an elegant gold border. The understated design became extremely popular during the late Victorian period and remains highly sought after today by collectors of antique English ironstone and farmhouse décor.

The dating of this platter is supported by the Royal Ironstone backstamp, which includes the word "England," a mark used after export regulations changed in the early 1890s. Alfred Meakin produced this piece at the historic Albert Street Works (later Newfield Pottery) in Tunstall, where much of their ironstone was exported to North America.

Despite being well over 130 years old, this platter remains in very good antique condition.

Condition

No chips or cracks. Age-appropriate crazing throughout, a few light stains on the underside, and original factory glaze blisters on the reverse from the manufacturing process. These firing characteristics are typical of Victorian ironstone and do not affect the platter's structural integrity.

The natural crazing and gentle patina tell the story of a piece that has survived more than a century while retaining its timeless beauty.
